The Changing Face of the Kingdom of God

It is not uncommon in this age to see people who don’t like certain features of themselves to go extra mile spending a fortune to look like how they wished they would have been created. Of course it is not a bad idea if this is done to reconstruct accidental damage to a particular part of the body.  Cosmetic surgery is more acceptable and fashionable this day that even a child of seven  would like to have one. It is that bad !! Nevertheless, a few have become happier after it, whilst many have regretted it afterwards; due to permanent scars and defect left on them.  They do not know that until a man start seeing himself in the light of the WORD OF GOD, it will be almost impossible for one to appreciate ones body as a wonderful and perfect creation of God.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have–Jesus Christ(1 Cor 3:11 NLT)

Sadly, this kind of philosophy is now creeping into the body of Christ.  The end time church is finding it increasingly difficult to uphold sound doctrines. Scriptural truth of holiness is no more valuable and fashionable. Every church  has their own definition of how the Kingdom of God should look like.  Many ministers of the Gospel are doing or have done cosmetic surgeries  to their teachings and doctrines. A doctrine that has no fundamental truth of the Bible. Sometimes you wonder where they get them from !

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Rom 14:17 ESV)

Jesus mission on earth is to introduce and bring about the Kingdom of God to the world. His birth and ministry  centred on that. Sometimes He will say, the Kingdom of God is at hand, sometimes, says, The Kingdom of God is here, sometimes says, the Kingdom of God is within you.

Before Jesus era, people used to see the Kingdom of God afar off in Heaven. They only see themselves closer to God when they go into the Synagogue or any other place of Worship. The Samaritan woman Jesus met at the well will shed more light on this. The woman said her generation worship God on the mountain and the Jews preferred Jerusalem, but Jesus told her a time will come when God can be worshipped anywhere. Which means the Kingdom of God does not answer to a place alone, but to the people themselves (John 4:19-21).

What am I saying here? Any place of worship where the three core values (Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost) of the Kingdom are not being preached, taught, and encourage people to live, will be counter productive to what Jesus came to the world to accomplished.  If you are a preacher, preach it. If you are a teacher, teach it, if you are a believer, talk about it to others. We are to live it and talk about  it.

The kingdom of God is about, ‘ RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE and JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST‘.
Jesus Robe is seamless, woven in one piece. It is knitted together. We are  not to tear it up into one- sided sermon/teachings.  Show me where the righteousness of God, His peace and the joy in the Holy Ghost is, then I will show you where the Kingdom of God is.

When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they divided his clothes among the four of them. They also took his robe, but it was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. So they said, “Rather than tearing it apart, let’s throw dice for it.” This fulfilled the Scripture that says, “They divided my garments among themselves and threw dice for my clothing.” So that is what they did. John 19:23-24 (NLT)

From the above scriptures, we can see that the Soldiers were able to tear Jesus clothes into pieces , but not with His robe. They couldn’t tear the robe. Because the robe of Jesus is righteousness, holiness and the love of the Father. It is the Robe we must all wear; it is the only heavenly garment that I know.

Righteousness is the ruling symbol of the kingdom of God. The banner of  righteousness  must be raised in our lives and also encourage others to live the same.  Of course, being righteous is a gift of God received by grace through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, still we are to walk in righteousness. The church must continue to admonish its members on this, and not to be distracted into worldliness. Likewise believers must live their lives to maintain the robe of righteousness from being wrinkled or blemished. Sadly, many churches are no more preaching on Holiness. Many are distracted to serve tables and this shouldn’t be.

But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” ( Hebrews 1:8-9 NIV)

The Kingdom of God is being rule by Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Pursuit of peace is becoming unfashionable to the body of Christ. We are now being taught to purse revenge or pray for our enemies to die.  The idea of who our real enemies are, have been distorted. We see people more as our enemies than the demons and the forces of darkness. A strategy Satan plays so well to distract the body of Christ from confronting him. He will tempt you to see your in-laws, parents, neighbour, etc, as your enemies. Whereas these are the people God commanded us to love. The only adversary Bible says we have is Satan.  A true believer of JESUS CHRIST will pursue peace like his master. Jesus is called the Prince of peace. If Jesus had seen Peter as His enemy when he rebuffed the idea of Jesus being suffered, killed and resurrected ( The crux of His mission on earth), rather than Satan, Jesus would have missed resisting the real perpetrator.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Pet 5:8 (KJV)

Until a believer start seeing himself or herself as a carrier of Joy (because the Holy Ghost dwell in us), he or she will be running helter skelter looking for joy that is not missing. In the Kingdom of God, there are many things to be joyful about. There is  a joy of salvation, joy to carry us through lives, and the feeling of joy that we shall one day live forever with God. Nothing else can satisfy us beyond the provision of the Kingdom. In fact, we are known by the unbeliever to be HAPPY HAPPY PEOPLE. We don’t need professional comedians to make us happy. Likewise, we don’t need Pastors that play on people’s emotions to caress the itching ears of worshippers. The source of our Joy can only be in Jesus Christ alone !

  1. Thanks again, Richard for revealing the truth and the untruths in your writing. I loved your thoughts on the ROBE. Some believers believe that JESUS was poor. I have no idea where they received that. The Romans would never have “rolled the dice” for His robe if the cloth was of no value!
