The Exclusivity Of Christianity ( Part 2)

The exclusivity of Christianity is not a claim. Rather, it is based on the reality of its scriptural proofs in life application, science, and eye witnesses accounts. Although it is fair to say, I am a Christian because I was born into a Christian family.  Like me, many people are in their religions just because they were born into it. But the fact is, being born into Christianity doesn’t make a person a practising one. For me, my journey was a soul searching experience when the reality of life after death dawned on me. I could have changed my religion during this period, but it was in Christianity that I found the answers to my questions. Having trouble with the existence of God, creation, relationship and eternity. No other religion come anywhere near the answers Christianity proffers. I found in Jesus the answers to the void in my life and heart. And since 1996, I stopped being religious, I started a relationship with God and Jesus as my Saviour. There had been ups and downs along the way, but to the glory of God, I’m still standing. And that is what matters!

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,(1Timothy 2:5 NIV)

Only in Christianity, we know about:

Mankind is born a sinner. It is an inherited nature for all of us. Adam as the original father sinned at the beginning, which made everyone a sinner spiritually.  God is a Spirit. Therefore, something has to be done to rectify our spiritual decadence. Sinful nature cannot relate to God. It is a nature that is willing to resist everything about God. It cannot please God…….it’s unwilling to obey God. For this nature to relate with God, it needs a rescue. God would be the one to make this call. Adam let God down through disobedience to His instructions. There is no way a man can deliver himself nor by any other being. It is down to God to initiate a way of reconciliation. This is what He did by sending His only begotten Son. Long before Jesus, He had accepted an offering of animals as an ad hoc solution. But complete forgiveness through a righteous man, who has the nature of God and man, qualifies as a  balance for human acceptance. No amount of prayers or alms-giving can secure human salvation. It must be in God’s way which is through Jesus Christ.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12NLT)

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.(Romans 3:23NLT)

Sinners are enemies of God. (Romans 5:10) And a sinner cannot save another sinner, God sent His only begotten Son…..who lived as a man and yet without sin, as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16NLT)

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.(Titus 2:11NLT)

All mankind must acknowledge their sins and accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour through genuine repentance, confession and believe in His finished work on the cross for salvation and forgiveness.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:21KJV)

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.(Proverbs 28:13NLT)

God’s kind of righteousness is not based on what we do. Just being good cannot save anyone. Our self-righteousness is short of God’s standard. God’s Righteousness is what can save any soul from hell. Whereas, some religions believe that, to go to heaven, all you have to do, is to make sure your good deeds outweigh the bad. The trouble is if that is the case, how do you know you qualify in this instance without a standard? Our good deeds are never good enough for God’s standard. We are to be saved by the Blood of the Lamb and then good deeds. Good deeds alone is not sufficient!

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.(Isaiah 64:6NLT)

At the point of Salvation, a believer is declared righteous. Righteousness is imputed regardless of what he has done in the past. Believing in Christ justifies one of sin. God now sees the believer as if he or she never sinned. The Blood of Jesus declares them unacquainted and without sin. Free from Adamic, generational and personal sins. That is why you cannot judge a believer by whatever wrong committed in the past.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2Corinthians 5:21NLT)

This is where the Holy Spirit continues to work in the life of a believer. This is where the good deeds matter. The fruit of the Holy Spirit, i.e. love, peace, long-suffering, etc., must be manifested in such life. When a believer is committed to please God and live holy, the grace of God to live holy abounds over such individual.

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.(1 John 2:29NIV)

In my conclusion, the point I’m making is this: It is only in Christianity the way of salvation is thorough and straightforward. It shows God’s and Man’s part. It is not a case of leaving everything to God or everything to  man. God plays His part, and man plays his part. It makes it easy to know if you are in the right Way-the Way to Heaven.

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, this is the right time to do so. You are not reading this post by accident. Only confess your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour; do so prayerfully and with the depth of your heart.
Kindly say this prayer and mean it with faith in your heart:
“O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He’s alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again. Thank you Lord, for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God. Halleluiah!”

If you have done that, believe your sins are forgiven, and you are now a child of God. For your spiritual growth, you need to join yourself to a Bible believing Church in your area. You may contact me by submitting your details through the contact form if you need guidance and counselling.

  1. I was also born into a Christian family. I reached a point in my teens and again in my early 20s when I really evaluated why I believed in Christianity. I wanted to make my religion my own. We can’t build our lives around what others believe.

  2. Thanks for your comment Tara… are very correct. We must make it our own. We must get to that point in our lives-that point of conviction. Apostle Paul says , “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced ……….2Tim 1:12
    God bless !

  3. Thanks for sharing the truth. So often the repentance and sanctification aspects of a walk with Christ are not preached.

  4. Thanks Robbi, you are right. The truth will surely prevailed. It’s all about Grace teachings from every quarter now, with no emphasis on the role of man to live right.

  5. Hi Richard,
Great points. I never thought of some of these and how “exclusive” they are to Christianity.

Jesus’ statement in John 14:6 that He is “the way, the truth, and the life, and nobody gets to the Father except through [Him]” is probably the most exclusive statement ever made! With those words Jesus showed He is the only way of salvation.

  6. Thanks for your contribution Pastor Scott, God bless

  7. I’m grateful for the 6 truths you have shared that make my faith in the Lord Jesus unique AND the truth! It’s a good thing to get back to the basics!

    God is so faithful!

  8. Thanks for your comment, God bless you.

  9. This post made me so grateful for my Christian upbringing. Even though I walked far from God for awhile, I always knew He loved me and never doubted the saving power of Jesus’ blood.

Now as a more mature believer, I’m thankful for the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. It chisels us to make us more like Christ while confirming that what we believe is true!

  10. Excellent post Richard. It’s true that our upbringing doesn’t make us Christian we have to choose Jesus. I’m finding that a lot of people are religious because they haven’t encountered the love of God. When we encounter God’s love we can’t help but choose Jesus. Thanks for your words.

  11. There are specific steps to Christianity that can frighten those who are not ready… but that clear path is also a comfort for when we are ready to finally run to our savior, seek forgiveness and be washed clean forever.
