Faith is only potent when it is demonstrated. Faith is a substance that can be seen physically through its carrier ( James 2:18). Having received a word from God, audibly or through His written word, you must take a corresponding action regarding the word. No one makes great exploits in life and ministry by being passive with the word of God.
On Part 1 of this series of teachings, I will lay emphasis on the efficacy of the word of God.
Biblical examples of a man and woman of faith are;
1. Peter received a word from Jesus before he took a step to come down from the boat. Matt. 14:29
2. Woman with the issue of Blood for 12 years heard about Jesus before making a move. Mark 5:27
Word of God must be our inspiration and must be on the basis upon which we take steps. It is unreasonably risky to take any decision without asking God. We will be alone in such Journey!
Many times believer take steps without hearing from God and still want to blame God when such decision didn’t come out good.
The success of Moses leadership on the journey of Israel to their promised land is anchored on him bent on taking decisions on the basis of hearing from God. You need a word from God to get to your promised land as well. May you get there in Jesus name.
Lev 8:5 (NIV) Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the LORD has commanded to be done.”
I have no doubt in my mind that it would have been self-suicidal for Peter to have jumped out of the boat without hearing from Jesus, even though Jesus was around. It would have been over ambitious for him to do that. God responds to his word and not our ambitions.
Likewise, the woman with the issue of blood was strengthened to move closer to Jesus based on the story of the ability of Jesus she has heard. She was encouraged as a result was able to endure human barriers on her way.
May God help us all to value the word of God even much more than we value our food.
Job 23:12 (NLT) I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.
Many people stopped at the point of hearing the word but few take actions on what they have heard. If you can trust your life on Jesus for salvation, you must demonstrate the same faith for receiving your blessings from him.
