On the first part of this series, I earlier mentioned the importance of the word of God to the demonstration of our faith. There is no faith without the word of God(Rom 10:17).
We understand through scriptures that faith and works always work together. They are a synergy that cannot be separated. What is the benefit of saying you have faith when you are reluctant or refused to take action on what you believe? The proof of faith is by taking steps, action and being proactive.
James 2: 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Biblical examples of a man and woman of faith are;
1. Abraham left his father’s house as instructed by God despite not knowing where he was going. On the altar of faith, comfort-zone is always sacrificed. Gen 12:1
2. Esther risked her life by approaching the King Ahasuerus to make a request when it was not the right time to do so. She trusted on the prayer and fasting herself and people offered to God. It takes a person of faith to take such risk. Taking risk must be in accordance with the word and direction of God. Risk must not be taken arbitrarily.
Esther 4:15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
3. Peter should be celebrated for walking on water. After all, he was not the only one in the boat. Rather he was the only one ready to do what seemed impossible. A lot of people talk about his doubt that led to him sinking. But I sincerely salute his courage to step into the water soon as Jesus called him to come.He did it without hesitating.
The word of God is profitable only to those who has the courage and determination to take a step of faith to do them. Every word concerning holiness, honesty, blessings, faithfulness, evangelism, diligence, love, forgiveness, patience etc, must be obeyed.
I want to encourage someone reading this message to avoid hesitation on the word of God. The proof of faith is by taking a step. As the saying goes,”the proof of the pudding is in the eating”. The breakthrough comes when we respond to what we hear. Never let your opinion or others override the instruction of God for your life. As you do that, I see God bringing to pass all your expectation of Him in Jesus name. Stay blessed
