Live By The Word

Have you ever heard someone say, ‘’follow your heart?’’ Please don’t follow your heart if your heart is not right with God or godly. When it comes to making decisions about your life. The heart of a natural man is not totally reliable. Bible called it depraved heart; always desperate to do wicked and evil things. Therefore, don’t follow your heart until you do the right thing with God.

Since the fall of man, the heart of man has led men to do all manner of abominable and unimaginable things. Such as widespread of homosexuality, prostitution, corruption, immorality and worldliness. The mind of a natural man is selfish, greedy, unloving, unforgivable, ungodly etc

The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Jeremiah 17:9(NLT)

Fast forward to recent years the unholy act of holocaust, the legalisation of gay marriage in many nations of the world, gender change phenomena, killings of innocent people by religion fanatics such as Boko Haram, ISIS, AL-QAEDA, I can go on and on and on. Ask every one of those people that perpetrated these acts, they will tell you they followed their hearts and convictions. Even murderers, rapists, paedophiles, haters, racists, adulterers, etc, will say the same things. But you and I know that what they are doing is evil and ungodly.

Therefore, it is dangerous to follow your heart to do anything if your conscience is not moral and godly. Otherwise you might end up doing what is right in your own eyes but not right in the sight of God. If a heart is not subjected to the kingship of Jesus, it will end up doing what might be considered as humanly good but divinely unacceptable.

You must not act as we have been doing here today, where everyone acts as they see fit. Deuteronomy 12:8(ISV)

In those days Israel had no king; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes. Judges 21:25 (NLT)

But someone might say but I’m not godly, not devoted to any religion but I once followed my heart and made the right decision. Yes, you are right. The fact is, every human being is created by God and has the breath of God in them. Therefore, occasionally by the grace and mercy of God can still receive a nudge, urge and conscientious directives from God because of the Spirit of God in them. However, such experiences would not be constant until they submit their lives and hearts to God for direction.

The heart of man was so bad that God promised the old testaments believers that His plan is to remove the old condition of the heart and replaced it with a brand new one. The course of action that took place after the redemptive experienced of Jesus on the cross.

I will give them hearts that recognize me as the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly. Jeremiah 24:7(NLT)

To be born again is to be ready to submit our lives, hearts, ways on to God. And when a man accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and saviour, the Holy Spirit automatically become residence in such person’s hearts. He is now the host and the spirit of that man becomes the guest from that day onward.

and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first instalment that guarantees everything he has promised us. 2 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT)

But am I saying a born-again Christian will always get his or her decisions, right? Absolutely know. The right decision will depend on how sensitive one is to the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit speaks all the time, but we don’t pay attention to Him all the time. We don’t have the right to blame God at any time for our misfortune because it is us not paying attention to His instructions.

The primary way God speaks to His Children is by the Holy Spirit by witnessing into our spirits.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. Romans 8:14 (NLT)

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. Proverbs 20:27(AKJ)

In conclusion,YOU CAN FOLLOW YOUR HEART if you are in constant fellowship with God in prayer and word (Bible) and you are walking in love with people around you.
