I need some advice

Besides the Holy Spirit, Who is our most important counsellor, we all still consult people when we are in dire need of an advice or opinion. The period we deem to see the voice of man as of God. And there is nothing wrong in that. We just need to be careful and be on guard of whom we approach.
We must learn from experience. If not we’ll be victims of the same mistakes we made in the past or that others made. Sometimes you don’t need affirmations of a majority, you may just need from a few that are trustworthy.
Joshua was a man I discovered that learned from one of the mistake that happened during Moses leadership. When it was Joshua’s turn to spy Jericho, instead of sending twelve people like Moses (which he was also among at the time), he sent two. He had realised that the last time he was on same kind of mission, it ended up in a disaster because of their numbers. Out of the twelve, people aside from himself and Caleb, others on the trip don’t have the winning mentality required of them. They came back to scare others in the camp-because they lack faith. Hence I believe that informed Joshua’s choice of two people (the same number that got it right previously) to spy Jericho during his own leadership.

Scriptures:

MOSES So Moses sent them from the Wilderness of Paran according to the command of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel. Numbers 13:3 (NKJV)
JOSHUA :Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. Joshua 2:1(NIV)
Sometimes you don’t need to approach whole lot of people for an advice or whenever you are at the point of taking a major step in life. You may just need one or two people of good report and honest heart. People you trust they don’t have biased minds, jealous spirits and hidden agenda. In your quest for an advice, please look out for people with the fear of God and faith in Him.

FOLLOW:

People like Jethro; Moses father in law, people like Caleb and Joshua who came back with confidence in God for their victory, people like the little maid who rightly advised Naaman for his healing, people like the mother of Jesus who gave advice at the wedding to the celebrants to approach Jesus for a miracle when their wine has finished. People like the wife of Pontius Pilate who was honest to advised him to wash his hands off the persecution of Jesus, People like Paul who was always honest to advise his mentees such as Timothy, Titus, Philemon, etc.

WARNING:

1. Don’t use people’s title to determine their rights to advise you. You need people’s spirit. What is their spirit like? Are they positive people, are they fearful people? All these you must checked out.
2. Don’t rely on people’s good and profitable advice of the past. You need to know if they are still relevant. Are they still the same person you used to know? For example, Ahithophel was an accurate and godly adviser to David but later sold his conscience to evil desires and his advise became inaccurate and dishonest when he joined forces with Absalom. If people have hidden agenda you can be sure that there counsel will not be an honest one.
Run away from people like Jonadab who advised Amnon to commit incest.
Run away from from a greedy person, they will want you to be like them.
Run away from people like Judas Iscariot who gave a dishonest advice to Jesus not to waste the Alabaster oil
Run away from any Government officials that wanted to give you a responsibility that may lead you to deny Christ or not serve Him
Run away from friendship or organisation that may want to corrupt the values and principles you stand for.
Run away from people who says you can continue sinning, it doesn’t matter because we are in the dispensation of Grace.
Run away from people who says Christ didn’t come in the flesh, people who deny His resurrection return
Above all, always check that every advice is in line with scriptures and the voice of the Holy Spirit. May the Spirit of God shows up to counsel you whenever you are at crossroad.
Stay blessed.
God is Love
