Brett Kavanaugh Confirmed to Supreme Court in 50-48 Vote

The tumultuous supreme court confirmation hearing has come to an end for Brett Kavanaugh as the Senate voted to confirmed him Saturday afternoon.

The Judge Kavanaugh was subject to a grueling confirmation processes that required him to meet with 65 senators, participate in 30 hours of hearings, and submit nearly 1,300 written questions. During this process he was also accused on several occasions of sexual misconduct which he vehemently denied.

The final vote on Saturday, October 6, was 50-48, which is enough to land him a lifetime seat in the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. Though Kavanaugh was victorious in this process, it was not without protest. During the Senate vote on Saturday, protestors continuously interrupted the formal roll call. One protestor yelled, “I do not consent, where’s my representation.”

Kavanaugh’s confirmation marks a major victory for the White House, as President Trump has now been able to appoint two justices to the Supreme Court during his first term in office.
