A Christmas Greeting from Don Carson

As 2017 draws to a close, and as the church gathers around the globe to celebrate the Advent of our Savior, we at The Gospel Coalition wish to give thanks. We give thanks to God for allowing us to participate in the advance of the gospel throughout the world, and for the privilege of partnering in mission with co-laborers like you.

Whether you have read or shared a TGC article, video, or podcast online, attended one of our conferences, or partnered with our ministry in some other way, we are grateful for you.

Whether you have read or shared a TGC article, video, or podcast online, attended one of our conferences, or partnered with our ministry in some other way, we are grateful for you.

Thank you for joining us this year in our efforts to equip and renew the contemporary church in the timeless gospel of Jesus Christ.

Highlights from 2017

In April, more than 8,000 believers from around the globe gathered in Indianapolis to hear preachers proclaim, in a united voice, the theme, “No Other Gospel,” focusing especially on Paul’s Letter to the Galatians.

It was there that we launched new print and online editions of The New City Catechism, which is being translated into 10 strategic languages to equip children, new believers, and seasoned saints around the world in the essential doctrines of our Reformed faith.

More than 20 million people have visited TGC’s website this year from around the globe, many from countries hostile to the gospel and in areas we only dreamed of reaching a mere decade ago.

In October, we celebrated 500 years since the beginning of the Reformation. How could we not praise God for the powerful and unexpected ways in which he worked through Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Oecolampadius, and other reformers, whose expositions, theology, and pastoral insight still breathe life into many Christians and local churches today?

In November, we launched TGC Courses, a new online-learning platform providing free Bible and theology courses to pastors, students, and other church leaders seeking select resources for their study and spiritual formation.

Through our International Outreach initiatives, we have continued partnering with publishers to supply free theological books to pastors who are desperate for them as they minister in many remote arenas.

Our Coalición por el Evangelio has reached millions in Latin America this year with gospel-centered resources, as have other affiliated coalitions in Canada, Australia, and Europe, with more plans in the works for Africa and Asia.

None of these initiatives would have happened without the prayers and generosity of our coalition partners, such as you. So again, I say thank you.

Looking Ahead

As we turn our gaze to 2018, please join me in praying for the work still to do.

These are difficult, confusing days. The world desperately needs the gospel. The church desperately needs gospel clarity and the rich heritage of Reformed confessionalism.

This is our opportunity, our task, our mandate: to ground the global church on the unshakable foundation of the gospel, at a time when so much of the world is shaking.

As we continue in this mission, I pray our efforts at The Gospel Coalition continue to bless you, your family, and your church.

And if you are able and feel so led, I invite you to consider partnering financially with TGC, after supporting your local church first, to bless the many believers around the world who need the resources we provide.

On behalf of The Gospel Coalition, I wish all of you, brothers and sisters, wherever you gather, a blessed Christmas and a faithful and fruitful New Year.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
